Since the 1860s, the corner of Sutter and Riley in Historic Folsom has had something going on. From where the PowerHouse Pub now beams the best foot-stomping rock blues and popular live music was once upon a time a livery stable, a car dealership, and who can remember what else! What no one around here seems to forget though, is since 1976, the rustic, funky, one-of-a-kind music venue has been home to a who's who list of blues and rock artists and thousands of adoring fans over the last quarter of a century.
Originally opened in 1976 as a mama's biker bar, the unique hangout was later renovated with a sound system, upstairs balcony and outside porch to claim its destiny as an informal, but top notch blues club. Then, in 1999, new ownership completely gutted the dilapidated old club and created the fun and friendly whacked-out atmosphere that, along with an enlarged first-rate music calendar, keeps the crowds coming in droves.
Among many national and sell-out artists performing at the Pub are: Big Brother and the Holding Co., Ambrosia, Savoy Brown, Elvin Bishop, the Yardbirds, Tommy Castro, Corby Yates, Mumbo Gumbo, Cheeseballs, Mother Hips, WonderBread 5, the Coasters, Little Charlie and the Nightcats, Leon Russell, Lydia Pense and Cold Blood, Roomful of Blues, Norton Buffalo - and a host of other award-winning entertainers.
The PowerHouse Pub also features 15 TVs and digital big screen with satellite feeds for all your favorite sporting events. less
